Neil Lennon has insisted Celtic will not be put off bidding for big-name signings, despite losing out on goalkeeper David James to Championship outfit Bristol City.
England's World Cup No 1 yesterday rejected the chance to challenge Lukasz Zaluska at Parkhead, citing family reasons - rather than cash or the quality of football on offer in the SPL - for his decision.

It is the latest disappointment for new boss Lennon, who has also lost out on Sol Campbell to Newcastle, seen a move for Jimmy Bullard stall and had interest all but concluded in former loan strikers Robbie Keane and Craig Bellamy.
Despite seven new arrivals this summer, the marquee signing Lennon desperately covets continues to elude him. Selling Aiden McGeady would give Celtic the millions to fund a well-known arrival and last night Lennon maintained that the club are right to keep pitching for such a stellar name.
'We have to get in there and pitch for the likes of Campbell and James, absolutely we do,' said Lennon.
'To be honest, I don't think we have been far away with either.
'I know for a fact David has chosen Bristol City for a genuine personal reason and he could not get up to Glasgow for talks the other day. Bristol is close to home for him and that is his decision.
'Sol is now based in England's north-east, so that is probably a factor in him choosing Newcastle, too. We made a really good pitch for him. And for Jimmy Bullard.

'I'm looking for someone with the kind of experience and presence that I talked about at the end of last season. But we have not been able to nail anyone down as yet.

Lennon still wants a goalkeeper and a central defender. He refuted reports linking him with German free agent Timo Hildebrand, despite the former Bundesliga No 1 claiming he was in talks with Celtic.
McGeady has been included in the party for the Emirates Cup, which features games against Lyon today and Arsenal tomorrow.
'We are in a position to do business,' added Lennon. 'If you look at the free transfers we have brought in, I think we will get value from them all.
'From the others, Efrain Juarez was £2million and Gary Hooper £1.6m plus add-ons, but you would be happy to pay those add-ons given what they are. Daryl Murphy was £1m, so it is not as if we have been spending massively. We've been trying for quality and value.'
Hooper didn't feature in Braga but will make his debut at the Emirates today or tomorrow.
'Gary hadn't had enough game time for Portugal,' added Lennon. 'We had cover in that position but getting him registered means he is available for the return leg.
'What's more, we are able to play him this weekend for definite.'
However, trialist Peter Luccin won't be involved because the Emirates Cup is for registered players only.
Meanwhile, former Hull City midfielder George Boateng, who trained with Celtic earlier this summer, has signed a two-year deal with Greek side Skoda Xanthi.
